Dark Psychology includes all criminal and deviant behaviors committed upon other innocent victims. Although many people are intrigued by the discussion of the serial killer and psychopath, the vast majority of predators hunting human prey are not engaged in murder or sexual deviance. If this writer were to make an estimate, he would put the percentage of human predators at roughly 70% of the total pool of people who are out to victimize others, but who are not involved in murder or sexual deviance. The remaining 30% are the most dangerous because they seek physical human contact.

This writer has constructed what he believes is a sound theory of the human predator. Dark Psychology assumes what lives within all of us is a potential reservoir of violent malicious energy. All human aggressive and hostile dysfunctional behavior lies on a continuum of purposiveness defined by this writer as the Dark Continuum. Most of these behaviors lie somewhere on the Dark Continuum with most being in the category of subtle, mild and with fleeting thoughts and minor shortfalls. The reality though is Dark Psychology is a universal phenomenon, and there is no dispute all of us, at times in our lives, have had at least thoughts of sheer violence and predatory fantasies.

The difference is the vast majority of humanity has never acted upon those thoughts. The reason is that we have a low Dark Factor equation compared to the predators. The Dark Factor is the realm, place and potential that exists in all of us and is part of the human condition. This concept is one of the more abstract terms of Dark Psychology, because it is so hard to illustrate via the written expression. For criminal and deviant people, their Dark Factor is elevated; influencing them to move in a direction towards what many define as evil and this writer defines as a trajectory accelerating towards the Dark Singularity.

“It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that all human failures spring.” Alfred Adler [1870-1937]

Alfred Adler’s theories were a powerful influence in this writer’s creation of Dark Psychology. He strongly adheres to Adler’s philosophy that behavior is purposive. The only slight philosophical divergence from Adler is this writer’s belief that all behavior is 99% purposive. He holds the remaining 1% as being within the realm of the black hole of the Dark Singularity. The black hole of the singularity is the area of evil that the predator comes close to, but never reaches.

dark-psychology-blog-version-michael-nuccitelli-psy.d.-ipredator-ipredator-inc.

Dark Singularity

The Dark Singularity is the potential in all of us to behave as a predator, hunting human prey completely and utterly devoid of purpose. This writer also strongly subscribes to Adler’s theory of subjective processing. Dark Psychology and the human predator have a highly distorted perceptual filtering mechanism. For them, it is no longer about being compassionate and kind. Their subjective processing colors all of their thoughts, emotions and perceptions with blackness and venom.

At some point in the development of the human predator, he/she actuates his thoughts and feelings and starts down the long road of what contemporary criminologist call psychopathy. Within time, their subjective processing filter becomes divorced from experiencing remorse. They come to perceive that the victimization of others is deserved by those who are too naive to protect themselves.

dark-psychology-blog-version-michael-nuccitelli-psy.d.-ipredator-ipredator-inc.

Dark Factor

Given that, a large portion of human development surrounds social acceptance, the predator somehow moves into the arena where his/her Dark Factor becomes an active force fueling an urge for the destruction of others. Once touched by the realm of psychopathy, he has entered the point of no return. Just as light cannot escape a black hole, the human predator cannot escape the path towards the Dark Singularity. Interviews conducted by forensic profilers and research scientists with convicted notorious psychopaths have proven the theory of accelerated movement towards the Dark Singularity.

Some believe, this accelerated trajectory to victimize others is more similar to what has been called a compulsive dependency theory. Although this writer agrees with the compulsive dependency hypothesis of increased needs by human predators to victimize others, Dark Psychology assumes these needs can become needless and less purposive.

Not only have psychopaths divulged a perception of experiencing a sense that their evil acts accelerate in frequency, but also their experience of acting as predator takes on an addictive quality. Using cosmology once again as a metaphor for Dark Psychology, the closer matter approaches a black hole, the faster mass accelerates and can never swing away from the black hole’s awesome gravity. Interviews with psychopaths almost exactly mimic this universal law of astrophysics.

As society moves further into what is defined as the Information Age filled with digital technology and cyberspace, Dark Psychology and its impact on humanity will be tested at greater rates. Given the veil of anonymity cyberspace offers all humanity, the question remains is if the nefarious aspects living within all of us will recognize there is a realm of free reign called the digital universe. Dark Psychology is the study of the chasm within us all, which only the few enter, and even fewer ever exit. Without a natural predator to cause humans to rally, we prey upon one another.

Online Psychopathy List Released

by

Dr. Nuccitelli

Online Psychopaths [aka, iPredopaths] is an Information Age criminology and human consciousness construct replacing classic sociopathy and psychopathy. Online Psychopaths [aka, iPredopaths] is a severe personality disorder describing anyone who skillfully uses cyberspace to troll, identify, control and manipulate others. Driven by grandiosity or sexual perversion, they experience no remorse or guilt. Many iPredators and iPredopaths do not break the law and live unscathed by law enforcement, fraternal organizations, religious institutions and the legal system.

Provided in this article is this writer’s checklist of online psychopathic traits and tactics they use in cyberspace. At the base of the article is the link to the iPredator Internet Safety website where you can review or download, at no cost, the Dr. Nuccitelli’s Online Psychopath checklist, along with, his fully formatted PDF article.

Online Psychopaths | iPsychopath

Online Psychopaths [aka, iPredopaths]: iPredopathy is an Information Age criminology and human consciousness construct replacing the pre-Information Age profiles of sociopathy and psychopathy. iPredopathy is an advanced stage personality disorder describing any adolescent to adult male or female who skillfully uses Information and Communications Technology [ICT] to troll, identify, control and manipulate their human targets. Driven by grandiosity, sexual perversion or perceptual distortion, Online Psychopaths and iPredopaths experience no remorse or shame for the harm they cause others. Just as iPredators, many iPredopaths do not break the law and live unscathed by law enforcement, fraternal organizations, religious institutions and the legal system.

Using cyberspace [aka, Internet, Darknet, Usenet] and electronic devices, Online Psychopaths [aka, iPredopaths] design and implement their criminal, deviant, violent, deceptive and cyberstalking tactics. Their human quarries are  unsuspecting, vulnerable, submissive and internet safety ignorant children, older adults, unprepared businesses and psychologically distressed adults. Unlike the psychologically dysfunctional, developmentally immature and minimal to moderate anti-social personality disordered iPredator, iPredopaths do not experience guilt, remorse, shame or fear before, during or after their offline and online conquests and/or manipulative interpersonal dynamic strategies.

In addition to being devoid of remorse and shame, iPredopaths are extremely grandiose, habitually deceptive and highly dependent upon ICT to fuel, define and justify their dissociative perceptual fantasies. iPredopaths are similar in core beliefs to pre-Information Age psychopaths, but differ in behavioral signatures, stalking methodologies, choice of hunting environments, and psychodynamic faculties. Although at much higher rates of engaging in violent, sadistic and severely depraved behaviors than the general population, most iPredopaths are not homicidal, sexually perverted or overtly violent. In fact, using the persuasive and deceptive power of cyberspace, iPredopaths are capable of embarking upon offline opportunities endeavoring to become heads of state, corporate and community leaders, successful religious zealots and members of the political elite.

Given most cyberspace, social media and mobile device communications are primarily non-physical contact involved, physical interactions may or may not be the iPredopath’s modus operandi. Within the next century, the Online Psychopath will become the predominant form of apex human predator as pre-Information Age psychopaths extinguish, replaced by iPredopaths who are ICT, social media and internet savvy. Lying upon a spectrum of dexterity, proficiency and ICT skills, the segment of iPredopath most difficult to locate, identify and apprehend is Doctus iPredopath. Unlike the less advanced iPredopath, who is reliant upon ICT and cyberspace, Doctus iPredopath is proficient and manipulative in both offline and online environments.

Although Doctus iPredopath is habitually driven by perceptual distortions and grandiose fantasies, they are skilled at preventing their grandiosity from becoming a means leading to their identification and apprehension. The theoretical triad of Information Age darkside of human consciousness is iPredator, iPredopath and Doctus iPredopath [IP3].

In addition to being devoid of remorse and shame, iPredopaths are extremely grandiose, habitually deceptive and dependent upon ICT to fuel, define and justify their dissociative perceptual fantasies. iPredopaths are similar in core beliefs to pre-Information Age psychopaths, but differ in behavioral signatures, stalking methodologies, choice of hunting environments, and psychodynamic faculties. Doctus iPredopath | Apex Online Psychopaths

Doctus iPredopath [aka, Apex Online Psychopaths]: Doctus iPredopath is an Information Age theoretical criminology concept replacing the most successful of all pre-Information Age psychopaths [aka, traditional psychopathy]. Doctus iPredopaths are apex human predators who are Information and Communications Technology [ICT] skilled, highly intelligent, perceptually sadistic, remorseless and  masters of deception. Doctus iPredopathy defines the most proficient, elusive and skilled online psychopaths. iPredopathy is a severe form of characterological personality disorder defining  ICT skilled or reliant adults who engage in criminal, deviant and habitually deceptive online practices targeting vulnerable men, women, children and unsuspecting groups.

Unlike Online Psychopaths and iPredopaths, Doctus iPredopaths are commanders of identity cloaking, if they decide, combined with being proficient at exploiting and victimizing their human prey in both online and offline environments. Doctus iPredopaths do not fall upon a disorganized and primitive to organized and advanced continuum, as Online Psychopaths do, as their criminal acumen, ICT aptitude and sadistic appetites put them in a league of their own. All Doctus iPredopaths are highly skilled in the iPredator themed construct of Cyberstealth, as well as, the art and science of deception and calculating proficiency in manipulating their human prey. Doctus iPredopaths are capable of cloaking their true modus operandi by initially presenting themselves as harbingers of peace and social awareness.

Doctus iPredopaths [aka, Apex Online Psychopaths] can ascend to levels of becoming pillars of their communities, corporate and organizational leaders, heads of state and persuasive religious zealots. Although all iPredopaths are much more likely to implement sinister, vicious and diabolical online endeavors than iPredators, Doctus iPredopaths and Doctus iPredopath led groups are guaranteed  to methodically plot and implement their fiendish, malignant and deadly fantasies.

Online Psychopath & iPredopath [iP3] Core Assumptions

I. iPredopathy  is a characterological personality disorder describing any male or female who uses Information and Communications Technology [ICT] to engage in criminal, deviant, deceptive or cyberstalking themed behaviors for the purpose of violent, criminal, deviant and deceptive offline interactions. Unlike many iPredators, iPredopaths do not experience guilt, remorse, shame or fear before, during or after their cyber attacks.

II. Although all iPredopaths meet criteria for iPredator, most iPredators are not iPredopaths.

III. To meet criteria for iPredator and iPredopath, online users must meet the three criteria of iPredator  as follows:  1. A self-awareness of causing harm to others, directly or indirectly, using ICT. 2. The usage of ICT to obtain, tamper with, exchange and deliver harmful information. 3. A general understanding of Cyberstealth used to engage in criminal or deviant activities or to profile, identify, locate, stalk and engage a target.

IV.  Doctus iPredopath’s are the most elusive, ICT savvy, and criminally versatile within the Online Psychopath and iPredopath Group.

V. Unlike iPredopaths requiring ICT, Doctus iPredopaths are equally adept at targeting and manipulating their victims in online and offline environments.

VI. iPredopath and Doctus iPredopath share similar traits, modus operandi and developmental histories to classic psychopaths and sociopaths, but differ significantly in their preferred arenas for hunting targets and manipulating their support system.

VII. Online Psychopaths [aka, iPredopath & Doctus iPredopath] are more likely to engage in perceptual fantasy and dissociative experiences influenced by their habitual use of Information and Communications Technology.

VIII. Given the “veil of anonymity” afforded to all online users in cyberspace, online psychopaths seek out other online users who will conform and validate their perceptual distortions and bizarre fantasies.

IX. Most, if not all, of an online psychopath’s feelings of grandiosity and narcissism are fueled by Information and Communications Technology.

X. Although the vast majority of online psychopaths do not engage in violence and sexual perversion, for those who do, Information and Communications Technology and social networking sites are the prime tools and arenas used to troll, locate, and ensure physical contact.

XI. Unlike Doctus iPredopaths, iPredopaths are dependent upon Information and Communications Technology to manipulate, deceive and victimize others.

XII.  Just as classic psychopaths, Online Psychopaths & iPredopaths vary in dexterity, typologies, existence of mental illness, intelligence and quantity of victims.

Dark Psychology

Dark Psychology: Dark Psychology is the study of the human condition as it relates to the psychological nature of people to prey upon other people motivated by criminal and/or deviant drives that lack purpose and general assumptions of instinctual drives and social sciences theory. All of humanity has the potentiality to victimize humans and other living creatures. While many restrain or sublimate this tendency, some act upon these impulses. Dark Psychology seeks to understand those thoughts, feelings, perceptions and subjective processing systems that lead to predatory behavior that is antithetical to contemporary understandings of human behavior.

Dark Psychology assumes that criminal, deviant and abusive behaviors are purposive and have some rational, goal-oriented motivation 99% of the time. It is the remaining 1%, Dark Psychology parts from Adlerian theory and Teleology. Dark Psychology encompasses all that makes us who we are in relationship to our dark side. All cultures, faiths and humanity have this proverbial cancer. From the moment we are born to the time of death, there is a side hidden within us that some have called “Evil” and others have defined as criminal, deviant or psychopathic.

Dark Psychology posits there are people who commit these same acts and do so not for power, money, sex, retribution or any other known purpose. They commit horrid acts without a goal. Simplified, their ends do not justify their means. There are people who violate and injure others for the sake of doing so. Within in all of us is this potential. A potential to harm others without cause, explanation, or purpose is the area explored. Dark Psychology assumes this dark potential is incredibly complex and even more difficult to define.

iPredator

iPredator: A person, group or nation who, directly or indirectly, engages in exploitation, victimization, coercion, stalking, theft or disparagement of others using Information and Communications Technology [ICT]. iPredators are driven by deviant fantasies, desires for power and control, retribution, religious fanaticism, political reprisal, psychiatric illness, perceptual distortions, peer acceptance or personal and financial gain. iPredators can be any age or gender and are not bound by economic status, race, religion or national heritage. iPredator is a global term used to distinguish anyone who engages in criminal, coercive, deviant or abusive behaviors using ICT. Central to the construct is the premise that Information Age criminals, deviants and the violently disturbed are psychopathological classifications new to humanity.

Whether the offender is a cyberbully, cyberstalker, cyber harasser, internet troll, cybercriminal, online sexual predator, cyber terrorist, online child pornography consumer and distributor or engaged in internet defamation or nefarious online deception, they fall within the scope of iPredator. The three criteria used to define an iPredator include:

  • A self-awareness of causing harm to others, directly or indirectly, using ICT.
  • The usage of ICT to obtain, tamper with, exchange and deliver harmful information.
  • A general understanding of Cyberstealth used to engage in criminal or deviant activities or to profile, identify, locate, stalk and engage a target.

Unlike human predators prior to the Information Age, iPredators include the multitude of benefits offered by Information and Communications Technology [ICT]. These assistances include exchange of information over long distances, rapidity of information exchanged and the seemingly infinite access to data available. Malevolent in intent, iPredators rely on their capacity to deceive others using ICT in the abstract and artificial electronic universe known as cyberspace. Therefore, as the internet naturally offers all ICT users anonymity, if they decide, iPredators actively design online profiles and diversionary tactics to remain undetected and untraceable.

Cyberstealth, a sub-tenet of iPredator, is a covert method by which iPredators attempt to establish and sustain complete anonymity while they engage in ICT activities planning their next assault, investigating innovative surveillance technologies or researching the social profiles of their next target. Concurrent with the concept of Cyberstealth is iPredator Victim Intuition [IVI]. An iPredator’s IVI is their aptitude to sense a target’s ODDOR [Offline Distress Dictates Online Response], online & offline vulnerabilities, psychological weaknesses, technological limitations, increasing their success of a cyber-attack with minimal ramifications.

Just as pre-Information Age criminals, deviants and aggressors, most iPredators have the capacity to experience remorse, guilt and shame, even if these traits are imperceptible at best. iPredators include the largest segment of humanity who engage in malevolent and deceptive online practices. They can be technologically skilled or unskilled, functional or dysfunctional, destructive or self-destructive and covert or overt in disclosing their identity. A sub-tenet of iPredator is iPredator Bridge defining online users who engage in the same aggressive and harmful online activities as iPredators, but are motivated by distorted beliefs of moral conviction. The definitions of iPredator Bridge & Cyberstealth is as follows:

20 Mass Killer Traits

by

Michael Nuccitelli, Psy.D.

As Information and Communications Technology becomes vital to all aspects of humanity, Dr. Michael Nuccitelli strongly suspects social media, the veil of anonymity afforded to all online users and the greater range of information exchange will change the frequency and methods of criminal and deviant acts. Information and Communications Technology will be relevant in understanding the minds of all criminals, deviants and the severely disturbed. All future alleged mass killers and violent offenders will be assessed and judged by their criminal actions, their past and their Information and Communications Technology usage.

As Dr. Nuccitelli has stated, Given it is estimated there are 2.23 billion active Internet users globally and quickly growing, it falls to reason to assume cyber predators and classic human predators will use Information and Communications Technology to plan, document and research their nefarious and malevolent activities.

Research into the profiles of mass murderers, rampage killers and spree killers have yield various traits, factors and emotional experiences. Although the terms to describe these violent offenders vary in definition and construct, there are common themes amongst a high percentage of these assailants, despite the verbiage used to describe their profiles.

The 20 traits, affective states and behavioral patterns to follow are similar when comparing the Arizona Shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, Norwegian Mass Killer, Anders Breivik, Colorado Shooter, James Holmes, the Oregon Mall Shooter, Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter and many other mass killers throughout history. The list this writer has compiled is as follows:

20-mass-killer-traits-michael-nuccitelli-psy.d.-dark-psychology-ipredator-forensics

  • 1. Mass murderers tend to exhibit a gradual and/or noticeable change towards social withdrawal.
  • 2. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he felt being treated unfairly, unheard and others did not prioritize his priorities as highly as he did.
  • 3. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he felt being persecuted by others or groups leading him to become more paranoid and untrusting.
  • 4. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he increasingly blamed others, other systems, other cultures or other political groups causing him stress and concern.
  • 5. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he increasingly was experiencing extreme chronic stress causing him to feel a sense of powerlessness and helplessness.
  • 6. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he increasingly was experiencing a lack of emotional support from friends and family, extreme disappointment, frustration and failure.
  • 9. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he was feeling an inability to cope with life and its disappointments or feeling that life had become hopeless.
  • 10. Testimony by the mass murderer’s social supports or in his writings suggest he was planning, fantasizing and desired revenge against those who caused him some type of real or fictitious harm.
  • 11. The majority of mass killers murder strangers.
  • 12. In a mass killer’s recent history, there is a triggering event such as a divorce, breakup, employment loss or academic failure that leads the assailant to conclude a mass killing is the answer.
  • 13. Shopping centers, schools, malls, college campuses, and various other public places are arenas mass killers choose to display their violent assaults.
  • 14. Adult mass killers tend to act alone. Adolescent assailants are more likely to involve other participants in their rampage.
  • 15. Over 50% of mass killers have a history of documented mental illness.
  • 16. Historically, mass killers tend to be male and Caucasian.
  • 17. 1/3 of mass killers have high levels of education and unemployed at the time of the rampage killings.
  • 18. Mass killers rarely attempt to flee from the incident. Many of them commit suicide at the scene of the crime or allow themselves to be taken into custody.
  • 19.  Adult mass killers often have military backgrounds or interested in the military and possess weapons they have obtained legally.
  • 20. Most mass killers are single or divorced.

20-mass-killer-traits-michael-nuccitelli-psy.d.-dark-psychology-ipredator-forensics

The Internet and Information and Communications Technology is a mere 20 years old and destined to become the primary arena to obtain, exchange and disseminate information. Knowing this to be inevitable, this writer presents additional traits and behavioral patterns that he believes will be found in mass killers living in the Information Age. These traits have not been clinically or research supported, but created from this writer’s research on his theoretical construct of iPredator. They are as follows:

1. Given their proclivity to engage in heightened fantasy and dissociative states, mass killers in the Information Age will compulsively spend large amounts of time playing online interactive video games and all forms of virtual reality and alternate reality environments available to online users.

2. Given their proclivity to engage in heightened fantasy and grandiose perceptual states, mass killers will compulsively spend large amounts of time writing about their grandiose predictions of how their inevitable mass assault will change society, their personal manifestos, journals, biographies and any other forms of information that can be disseminated online and justify their actions.

3. Access to Information and Communications Technology will accelerate the mass killer’s trajectory of becoming increasingly isolative. By increasing an isolative existence, the mass killer will become even more dangerous if not interrupted in his fantasy.

4. Given Information and Communications Technology and the Internet affords all online users access to information, news and events globally, mass killers will use this access to read, study and identify with other mass killers and nefarious criminals globally. Having global access to all events will increase what has been called the “copycat” phenomenon. Today, information and news happening globally are accessible to everyone within minutes.

5. Given Information and Communications Technology and the Internet affords all online users access to geotagginggeolocationGPS and digital surveillance, future mass killers will have a plethora of tools to help refine their deadly plans.

The primary area this writer feels  lead Mass Killers to commit their atrocious acts is their proclivity to engage in fantasy. Fantasy and semi-dissociative states are very common amongst mass killers and this writer posits that James Holmes, Anders Breivik, Jared Loughner and this week’s Oregon & Connecticut Shooters entire lives are played in their minds and very different than reality. Involving grandiosity of some sort, mass killers have compelling fantasies where they are capable of controlling the world or omnipotent in some fashion resembling a deity or some super human entity.

A Norwegian Declaration of Severe Madness

A Brief Forensic Analysis of Narcissism and Spree Killer Profiles

by Michael Nuccitelli, Psy.D.

Anders Behring Breivik, a 32 year-old Norwegian man can now safely say he’ll go down in the history books as he’s planned, fantasized and believes is his rightful destiny. Not as a cultural hero, celebrity, famous athlete, or political movement catalyst, but as a young deranged narcissistic man who took the lives of 76 innocent Norwegian men, women and children in a brutal act of spree killing violence. In his disordered mind, one day he will be exonerated and received by the world as a savior of the European culture.

Mr. Breivik offered no signs of remorse, regret or sorrow for his actions. If anything, he thought it was unfortunate having to murder his fellow countrymen, but necessary for the salvation of the European Nations given the slow and steady take over by Islamic Jihadists. To Anders Behring Breivik, he is following through with the directives of the Knights Templar to eradicate the evil influx of Muslims and fulfill his place as a hero in the annals of European history.

Soon after the murders, he was more concerned about the “numbers” evidenced by his attorney’s disclosure to reporters that Mr. Breivik inquired about the number of people he had successfully murdered. Unable to confirm my suspicions for him wanting to know how many lives he extinguished, I feel strongly still that he was thinking about his body count score compared to other mass murderers I guarantee he researched online prior to the event.

His calculation of carnage he scored won’t be the first nor the last time a mass killer was hoping to become the reigning “king of killers” defined by the number of deaths. Although it would be very easy to conclude that Mr. Breivik’s actions and lack of remorse for the devastation he caused is evil personified, but the unfortunate reality is his heinous acts are part of a deranged mind fulfilling a highly distorted plan. In essence, Mr. Breivik’s plan of terror was evil in action, but not dictated or spawned by evil forces.

Given the global media coverage and regular reminders of Mr. Breivik brutally murdering innocent teenagers while camping, there’s no need to illustrate again the atrocities he’s committed. In January, here in the United States, our country was traumatized by a young man who also brutally shot and killed multiple men, women, children and a congresswoman. It’s now 7 months since his mass murder, and Jared Loughner, the Arizona Shooter, has been determined to be unfit to stand trial.

I can recall that state of our country for the two plus months after his attack being contacted by local and national radio shows to help educate their listeners on how could a young man commit such a heinous act. For those 2-3 months, Jared Loughner’s name, life, history and mass murder details was covered 24 hours a day by all news media around the clock.

Although my recollection of the daily news stories now meld together with each passing month, I will never forget when news agencies posted his head shot that was taken by someone other than authorities. This image of Mr. Loughner will be in criminal justice text books 200 years from now. As you can see by his smug smile, he was quite proud of what he perceived was his grand accomplishment.

The country as a whole was traumatized where some wanted the Arizona Shooter promptly executed, some wanted him to get help for his obvious psychotic illness and others simply wanted the horror of what he did to disappear. For that brief time in our countries history, shock ruled the day because we couldn’t mobilize “up in arms” of a rogue nation taunting us or some type of homeland disaster to join together as a national emergency response team fighting the wrath of nature. America was left to deal with the reality of a young man from Tuscan, Arizona causing a national paralysis in January, 2011.

It’s now 7 months later, and we come to find out a peaceful country in the Netherlands, Norway, is experiencing the same national post-traumatic stress response from a young man who brutally murdered and injured innocent citizens. As Anders Behring Breivik sits incarcerated somewhere in Norway, I wonder if the smile on his face, as he sits in solitary confinement, is one of sheer joy, ecstasy or a humble grin of a sense of accomplishment like Jared Loughner.

For Mr. Breivik, the next 8-12 weeks will be the most enjoyable time of his life, despite being incarcerated and both hated and pitied by the rest of the planet. As a forensic and criminal psychologist, I’ve spent the last ten years studying criminal, deviant and psychiatric illnesses as it relates to forensics and criminology. Although I don’t reside in the country of Norway, I’ve compiled a criminal/psychological profile on Mr. Breivik to help the confused and perplexed gain additional insight into mass murderers, spree killers, sociopathy, narcissism and madness.

The reader must understand that the data I’ve compiled has been obtained from my hours spent online visiting, downloading and investigating all the information being disseminated from the Norwegian public and global community. If you find some of the fine details wrong, please disregard and focus on what I’m confident to put forth that Anders Behring Breivik meets the profile of a spree killer with narcissism as a central theme.

Unlike Jared Loughner who compiled a minimal paper trail with scant video footage describing his dark world and dissociative rants & thoughts, Anders Behring Breivik compiled enough data for a criminal forensics library. Although I’ve only had the opportunity to investigate this spree killer for 10-12 hours at the time of writing up my conclusionary finding, I’m amazed at the amount, type and quality of information I’ve been able to obtain from a simple online investigation. Although a plethora of details will surface about Mr. Breivik over the coming 8-12 weeks, I’m reasonably confident the conclusions I discuss today on 7/27/11 will, at a minimum, be a framework for those interested on how a criminal and forensic psychologist attempts to develop a criminal profile with minimal information and investigative approach.

Because I don’t have access to information and details of this case other than my research online, I will present my theories and speculations in a free form manner intermixing psychodynamic theories, behavioral analysis observations, social media analysis, spree and mass murderer patterns, personality characteristics, and other relevant information on developing a profile of this disturbed young man.

Lone Wolf Terrorism

“One person with belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests.” Anders Behring Breivik, Twitter 7/17/11

Very similar to Jared Loughner’s first image taken after his apprehension, Mr. Breivik poses with a facial expression of accomplishment and self-assuredness. Although there’s no voice track to the photo post above, I can see in his demeanor he’s quite proud and satisfied of his extraordinarily distorted belief of his “grand accomplishments.” Given Mr. Breivik planned, premeditated and coordinated the murders of Norwegian citizens at two separate locations; he would be categorized here in the United States as a spree killer. Although the terms are often used interchangeably, the official criminal profile would define him as a spree killer, but rampage, mass murderer and mass killer are also certainly descriptive of his evil actions.

My conclusionary findings suggest he’s not psychotic, thought disordered or severely mentally ill as his attorney recently announced but fits the profile of a spree killer/rampage killer on multiple fronts. In the simplest way possible, Anders Behring Breivik is an incredibly self-absorbed man who was pathetic, lonely, isolated with deep seated rage towards his country. Having his computer and a Facebook profile, he created an image of himself being the proverbial “Knight in Shining Armor” he envisioned in his own distorted mind and believed his online ramblings and “Manifesto” would go viral being read and respected globally.

Although not confirmed, I have a strong suspicion Mr. Breivik was not an absolute socially avoidant person, but clearly was extremely quiet, reserved and private about the vast majority of his affairs, internal thought processes, day to day interactions with peers, and aspects of his life he wasn’t passionate about. I would venture to guess he spent most of his social time and energy online either emailing peers and colleagues, posting information at his Facebook profile, and the most obvious, spending hours upon hours alone fantasizing about his Knights Templar image and writing his 1500 page manifesto. This ridiculous fantasy and evidence of his “Alice in Wonderland” mind can be seen in the picture below showing him armed for action.

Forensic evaluations by psychiatrists and psychologist will conduct extensive psychiatric examinations concluding Mr. Breivik may suffer from narcissistic personality disorder, an agitated depression or possible Bipolar Disorder. It’s also possible doctors may diagnose him with Personality Disorder (Not Otherwise Specified) which is given when the respondent exhibits maladaptive patterns of behavior, but doesn’t fit in one of the personality disorders outlined in the DSM-IV or ICD-10. Despite his representing attorney is already claiming he suffers from severe psychiatric illness, Mr. Breivik can still be perfectly sane and commit mass murder without suffering from Schizophrenia or Severe Bipolar Disorder with Psychotic Features.

norwegian-spree-killer-dark-psychology-anders-behring-breivik-michael-nuccitelli-psy.d.-dark-psychology-ipredator

Given Mr. Breivik belonged to a gun club, owned multiple firearms (a Glock pistol and an automatic rifle), 32 years old and a fan of violent video games, former neighbors reporting he had sometimes been seen in “military-style” clothing, proudly posted images of himself in military apparel with an assault weapon and allegedly threatened someone from his community with a firearm at one time strongly suggests he experiences a deep fantasy life. I guarantee he believes he’s a “moral mercenary,” progressive and authoritative community activist, a protector for the Norwegian and European people and a visionary meant to change the world.

Although it appears obvious one of his prime motives for his spree killing was motivated by what he espouses as political and societal degradation, I guarantee within time, information about Mr. Breivik will reveal either some childhood or adolescent traumas or some other highly distressful event(s) that lead him to feel powerless, helpless, marginalized, disrespected, angry and/or humiliated.
Regarding his targets, choosing children to murder suggests a deeper personal modus operandi not rooted in political and societal themes.

Mr. Breivik bombed a government building filled with adults, which would be expected in a home terrorism attack. From there, he traveled to an island to brutally murder scores of adolescent males and females. This event is suggestive of something was problematic in Mr. Breivik’s life when he was in his child or teen years. Although sexual/physical/psychological abuse by others can traumatize a child or adolescent, events not typically viewed as traumatic events can also impact a child if their genetic and psychological makeup makes them hypersensitive to those types of environmental variables.

As many criminologists, social scientists and psychologists will suspect, the question to be answered is if Mr. Breivik suffers from a severe Axis II Personality Disorder called Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). To meet criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder, he would have to meet the following criteria as described in the DSM-IV as follows:

1. He has a pattern of reacting to criticism with shame, humiliation or rage.
2. He takes advantage of other people to achieve his goals.
3. He has excessive feelings of self-importance.
4. He exaggerates his achievements and talents to others.
5. He’s preoccupied with fantasies of great success, power and intelligence.
6. He has unreasonable expectations of always being treated favorably.
7. He needs constant attention, admiration and recognition.
8. He disregards the feelings of others and has little ability to feel empathy.
9. He has obsessive self-interest.
10. He mainly pursues selfish goals.
11. Having all or some of the criteria listed above causes Mr. Breivik difficulties in relationships, problems with work, issues with family and possible legal trouble.

norwegian-spree-killer-dark-psychology-anders-behring-breivik-michael-nuccitelli-psy.d.-dark-psychology-ipredator

Based on the above criteria of NPD, I would venture to suggest Mr. Breivik suffers from a severe form of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. If the Norwegian forensic evaluators concur with my diagnostic hypothesis, this would suggest one of the primary motivating factors causing Mr. Breivik to commit such an atrocity would be his deep seated rage at others for not paying attention to him disguised by his political and societal ramblings.

Although I strongly suspect Mr. Breivik suffers from severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder and deep repressed rage and/or agitated depression, I don’t think any of these mental illnesses would classify him as incompetent to stand trial. If in fact he does suffer from any of the disorders I’ve posed as reasonably diagnostics, there is no state in the United States that would find him incompetent to stand trial. Not knowing the Norwegian Legal system, I have no way to confirm how their judicial system defines psychiatric illness and rulings on competence to stand trial.

Although I haven’t found any information to date on Mr. Breivik’s peers or loved ones reporting of his behaviors, I still strongly believe Mr. Breivik fits the quintessential profile of a spree and/or rampage killer. I would venture to state that, if he does have a peer group, they will confirm that over the course of weeks and/or months leading up to the mass killing event, he was increasingly becoming more isolative. Mass Killer experts have confirmed that leading up to the actual event, the killer spends increasing amount of time and energy isolating as he actively premeditates and plans his tactical strategy for the target day.

Research into the profiles of mass murders and spree killers have yielded various traits, factors and emotional experiences common amongst a high percentage of these assailants. Investigation by the Norwegian authorities through interrogation and interviews with peers, coworkers, significant others and family members will divulge many of the following signs if in fact Mr. Breivik fits the classic profile of a spree killer.

1. He exhibited a gradual and/or noticeable change towards social withdrawal.
2. Peers, loved ones, colleagues and/or in his writings indicated an expression of being treated unfairly, feeling unheard by others and others didn’t prioritize his priorities as highly as he did.
3. Peers, loved ones, colleagues and/or in his writing expressed feelings of being persecuted by others or other groups leading him to become more paranoid and untrusting.
4. Peers, loved ones, colleagues and/or in his writings expressed he increasingly blamed others, other systems, other cultures and other political groups causing him stress and concern.
5. Peers, loved ones, colleagues and/or in his writings expressed he increasingly was experiencing extreme chronic stress causing him to feel a sense of powerlessness and helplessness.
6. Peers, loved ones, colleagues and/or in his writings expressed he increasingly was experiencing a lack of emotional support from friends and family, extreme disappointment, frustration and failure.
9. He reported feeling an inability to cope with life and its disappointments or feeling that life had become hopeless.
10. Lastly and most revealing, he planned, fantasized and desired revenge against those who had caused him some type of harm.

A comment Mr. Breivik’s attorney made to the community offered significant insight and telltale signs Mr. Breivik is both highly narcissistic and planned and premeditated his expected infamy. According to Mr. Breivik’s attorney, he was both interested and questioned how many people he murdered in his rampage. The reason for this is that many mass killers planning to commit such an act research other mass killings and strategize to become the killer with the highest body count. Given no remorse or guilt has been witnessed by Mr. Breivik, it’s highly likely his questions about the number of people he murdered is related to his internal competition.

The primary area I feel led Mr. Breivik to commit these atrocious acts is his proclivity to engage in fantasy. Fantasy and semi-dissociative states are very common amongst mass killers and I guarantee Mr. Breivik’s entire life is played in his mind and very different than his reality. Involving grandiosity of some sort, mass killers have compelling fantasies where they are capable of controlling the world or omnipotent in some fashion resembling God. Looking through his Facebook page, it isn’t hard to see how a 32 year old man engaged in fantasy with violent video games, movies of warriors and heroes, music soundtracks from warrior movies and a multitude to date of evidence suggesting Mr. Breivik engaged, and still does, in fantasy often.

As more information about Mr. Breivik is released to the public, a classic profile of the spree killer will be confirmed. Although Jared Loughner, the Arizona Shooter, is classified as a mass murderer given his attack occurred at one location, he and Mr. Breivik are exactly the same in psychological construct. Both of these men were relatively isolative, viewed themselves as omnipotent and were fixated with weapons. The differences, between these two men, are their age and lifestyle. As Norway attempts to move on with normal life, the coming months will be a classroom for all their citizens on spree killers and their facets of madness.

Todd M. Knisely and his character assassination themed website, MichaelNuccitelli.Net, was best defined as a mixture of defamation, fake news, disinformation and sheer nonsense. As of January 31, 2017, his website had been down for three weeks. After contacting GoDaddy, the site was parked due to non-payment and not because it was being updated as he espoused. I can safely say that his bizarre obsession, with my work, will drive him to launch his felonious content again.

The only difference is that he can no longer use MichaelNuccitelli.Net. Effective February 9, 2017, MichaelNuccitelli.Net is now owned by yours truly. On this day, the domain was won for $12 dollars in a GoDaddy auction. When he did own it, the website alleged that I supported pedophilia, was a federal agent, neo-nazi, scammer, wife beater, pathological liar, plagiarist, attempted murderer, Anonymous wannabee and criminal. I don’t know how it’s possible, but he also purported I’m Jewish and a Neo-Nazi at the same time. The MichaelNuccitelli.Net URL is now forwarded to my new educational internet safety blog, MichaelNuccitelli.Org.

Everything he’s published is utter bullshit. Todd Knisely meets criteria for an iPredator and Predatory Troll. After verifying his criminal history, felony conviction and recent arrest? It’s highly probable that he is either a psychopath or suffers from an Axis II Anti-Social Personality Disorder. I cannot validate my assumptions because I did not perform a forensic evaluation to assess his psychological functioning.

I’m but one online user he has attacked. He’s targeted men, women, children and businesses. Mr. Knisely does not typically divulge his identity and uses the online moniker called Shadow. He is not a hacker, information security expert or cyber security professional. He is not part of the activist entity called Anonymous nor does he volunteer his time helping those who have been targeted by iPredators.

He is skilled at basic programming, resides in Somerset, PA and does not own or work for a computer company. Todd M. Knisely (aka, Shadow) primarily spends his life in G+, Facebook and Twitter. It is from these social platforms that he targets online users. One of his most laughable defamatory attempts is his Google+ community titled “Michael Nuccitelli, Psy.D. Scammer”.

The purpose of this blog post is not to defend my reputation, constructs or work, but to alert online users about Todd M. Knisely and how online assailants use the internet to troll, slander and defame others. Mr. Knisely is but one of thousands who use cyberspace to knowingly author disinformation and fake news. It is for this reason that I presented his profile before the Colorado Psychological Association (CPA) in November. 2016 and will be doing the same before the Vermont Psychological Association (VPA) in March, 2017. It is vital for citizens of the Information Age to learn about these egregious online activities.

Todd M. Knisely (aka, Shadow) – Predatory Troll

Predatory Trolls: Predatory Trolls are a new breed of Internet Troll that evolved from the Classic Troll. Just as Classic Trolls, Predatory Trolls can be ex-work associates, ex-partners and loved ones. They may also be unknown online assailants. Predatory Trolls may target others alone, but increasingly work in groups (aka, Troll Triad). Like all trolls, Predatory Trolls are driven by needs for power, recognition, peer acceptance and control.

Different from Classic Trolls is that their primary goal is to destroy an online user’s reputation, online presence and trustworthiness. With the advancement of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Predatory Trolls may be employed by groups and governments in covert operations to destroy a target’s reputation.

Like all Predatory Trolls, Todd M. Knisely is proficient at cyberstealth, disinformation campaigns and online deception. He takes partial truths and adulterates them into grand felonious stories. I could spend the next 5000 words defending myself, but a simple google search of “Michael Nuccitelli, Psy.D.” or “iPredator” will allow you to make your own determination. If interested, one of our internet safety volunteers, Ms. Vic Urben, authored a blog post defending my reputation titled “The Real Michael Nuccitelli, Psy.D.”.

The silver lining to Todd Knisely’s ridiculous accusations is that he validates my work and constructs. With each victim I help and with each professional organization and agency I train, his nonsense is included as an illustration. He validates iPredator. I say to Mr. Knisely? Thank You. Unfortunately, there are thousands of people who lose their jobs, families and reputations because of disinformation and fake news. It is for those people who are victimized by the Todd Knisely’s of the world that I write this web article.

“For 4+ years, Todd M. Knisely (aka, Shadow) has exploited, defamed and cyber attacked countless numbers of online users throughout G+ and other social platforms. In conclusion, I leave you with one last example illustrating how skilled Todd Knisely is in the art of deception. After his arrest in August 2016, a local news station interviewed him without first verifying his preposterous story. Not only is the news clip a prime example of fake news, but the reporter actually fell for his nonsense by stating that “he runs an online conglomerate of computer hackers from all over the world called “Shadows”. I wonder why the other news outlets did not report his account of how and why he was arrested. Provided here is the link to watch his two minutes of fake news fame.

Dark Side of Cyberspace Images

Michael Nuccitelli, Psy.D.

You and I may not feel it, but we are all at the beginning of the Information Age. Like a double edged sword, the advantages and disadvantages of Information and Communications Technology are clear. If someone says to me again, “Dr. Nuccitelli, what do you want us to do, turn off the internet?”, I think I will throw my digital devices out the window. For the record, I love cyberspace and grateful for its many benefits. What I don’t understand is how little is being done to teach children and the rest of society about the dark side of cyberspace and the typologies of iPredator.

At times, it feels like society has buried its head in the sand in relationship to internet safety and cyber attack prevention. It is truly unfortunate that the vast majority of online users do not pay attention to information security and cyber attack prevention until they, their loved ones or wallet are cyber attacked. Not only do I think basic internet safety, Digital Citizenship and how to conduct oneself in cyberspace be taught in schools, but it should be a national priority. For now, the best we can do, for those of us who give a damn, is to encourage awareness.

To achieve this aim, pasted below are twenty images and quotes to help think about how to protect yourself, loved ones and business. michael-nuccitelli-cyberstealth

Cyberstealth

Troll Triad

Troll Triad was originally written to protect myself from character assassination by three adult online users. The Cerebral, Provocateur and Crier archetypes may in fact apply to task functions in all gangstalking and internet troll groups.”

Quality Dental Care Thanked

quality-dental-care-cosmetic-and-preventive-dentistryThis blog post has been authored to express my thanks to Quality Dental Care, PC and Dr. Ennabi for supporting iPredator Inc.’s internet safety for kids initiatives. Not only has Dr. Ennabi been my dentist for the last fifteen years, and has a team that is bar none in New York, but he is the first dentist I’ve met that understands the importance of cyber attack prevention and pediatric internet safety. Each time I sit in his dentist’s chair, Dr. Ennabi and all Quality Dental Care associates ask about internet safety, social media safety and the cybercriminal minds of iPredators. I am honored to be their patient. With their permission, provided below is a brief introduction to Quality Dental Care, PC and Dr. Ennabi. Thank you for caring about children of the Information Age.

Haitham J. Ennabi, D.D.S.

Dr. Ennabi is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry and a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), New York State Dental Society (NYSDS), 9th District Dental Society and Dutchess County Dental Society (DCDS). He is actively involved with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department and serves as the Deputy Chief Surgeon for the New York State Police. Dr. Ennabi’s specialty is cosmetic and preventive dentistry, and because of his commitment to continuing education, his patients can be assured of the most up-to-date standards of care and treatment options.
